It is kind of baffling when you see some of these chains that have been in the Capital Region that for some reason or another just didn't pan out. Its kind of sad.

Now a while back I did an article about restaurants I would like to see come to Albany and the main one I wanted actually came to the Capital Region and I didn't even know it. That would be Krispy Kreme. Somehow when they came here in 2004 there was immediate success, traffic jams and such like we became used to like when Sonic made its debut. Somehow things went wrong and Krispy Kreme is no more in the area. It only seemed to last a few years.

Another more recent one that left me and many wondering is Joe's Crab Shack. I personally have never had much in the way of seafood variety so I was actually kind of pumped to go to Joe's. Sadly I never had that chance. Another one where you wonder what went wrong. It seemed to have a decent attraction to the public being that they had a line waiting overnight to the open of the restaurant. Can anyone shed light on what went wrong here?

As for Jreck Subs it is actually kind of clear as to how their fate became sealed. Luckily there are still locations for this is the state. Man, think about it. How many sub shops are their in the Capital Region. I mean Subway, Mr. Subb, Firehouse, DiBella's and all the little amazing mom and pop sandwich shops. Still a shame. The same goes for Quizno's which no longer calls the Capital Region home. The only difference with Quizno's is that nationwide they shut down shops. Luckily we do still have one of these in driving distance at the New Baltimore rest stop on I-87.

There are many other restaurants like Fuddruckers, Hardees and Ponderosa. They all feel much different to me than the one last glaring big chain that we once had that is now gone. That would be White Castle. I had some grub from this food chain only earlier this year when Candace came back from a road trip with some. Even heated up in a microwave these sliders were dope. So what went wrong? I supposed we will never know on many of these.

Thankfully it seems as if the area will see an boom with some other chains coming like more Sonic locations including a Troy one to open soon. Also a planned Chick Fil A coming in the near future to Clifton Park as well. Still many more chain's I would like to see come back or just make their debut in general to the area.

Any others that you miss or want to see come back? How about some that have never been to the area that you want to see? If there are feel free to leave a comment below.
