Over 100,000 gallons of raw sewage has reportedly spilled into the Hudson River, prompting concerns.

What's that smell? According to weather.com, the estimated 100,000 gallons of sewage was released this past weekend near the Albany area. An alert was issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The cause of the spill is said to have been related to melting snow which may have put a strain on the system, resulting in overflow. The spill is said to have occurred this past Sunday afternoon around 4pm, continuing for over an hour. There were reports of baby wipes and "floatable" debris spotted in the water in the Albany area. Fishing season coming up on April 1 will drive anglers to the Hudson River for striped bass and eating fish caught near the spill is not recommended.
