It seems like every six months or so we hear about more, and more Friendly's closing their doors.

So in theory this shouldn't come as too much of a shock to many people. It still sucks to see as it means the chain as a whole isn't really doing to well. 14 stores scattered throughout Upstate New York have turned off the lights for good. The more shocking thing surrounding the closing, some workers didn't even know.

Could you imagine showing up to work and having the door be locked and no explanation?

None of the remaining locations in the Capital Region have fallen victim to a closure. Clifton Park, Saratoga Springs, and Troy locations are still open as of this moment.

Back to the part about workers not knowing. It is actually illegal not to make a employee aware of an impending closure. A report has been filed with New York State on the matter.
