You always hear people say that they hate New York and want to move out of the state. The reason is actually mainly because of the people who have already left.

The reason I speak of is what I tend to hear people say. Taxes are too high. Many people blame New York City for that and I can't say I blame them. Now I am no expert when it comes to population or taxes. I get my W-2 at the end of the year and take care of my taxes with my paycheck just like everyone else. However the more people leave the state, the more damage it can have on your paycheck. I know, I'm being captain obvious right now.

However, what is the reason beyond just taxes that the state is losing so many people. WNYT tends to believe it has a lot to do with New York City being just way too expensive for John Doe to survive, thus the exodus. Meanwhile Upstate New York may be more affordable but opportunity is far lower. They claim that someone isn't likely going to want to wait for the right opportunity to come along.

In one years time the Empire State lost 200,000 of its residents. Mainly to New Jersey and Florida. Jersey kind of shocks me a little bit. We posted an article last week about the reasons you stay in New York. Tell us on Facebook, if you were to leave. Why would it be? Is it taxes?
