This sounds like a perfect spot for some pre and post show eats!

I really love to see that that there is a bit of life being put back into Downtown Albany. When I first moved to the Capital Region the majority of Pearl St. looked a lot like a ghost town. Over the last two years though it seems to be filling in quite nicely.

While most of the downtown life is primarily down towards the Palace Theatre with the opening of the new Capital Center, Johnny Rockets, and now The Taverna Greek restaurant some of that lively hood is spilling over towards the Times Union Center.

The Taverna is hoping to open in the former barber shop just across from the TU sometime next month according to the Times Union, The Taverna applied for a beer and wine license and should have seating for around 20 but will be primarily for takeout. The restaurants owner also owns The Greek House in Troy and plans to serve a fairly similar menu which you can check out by clicking HERE.

So if you are in the mood for something quick that is not pizza while you're downtown you will soon be able to grab some Souvlaki or a Gyro from The Taverna!
