In years past, I have always been the kind of guy who never gives up hope in a sporting event. Even if the team I was rooting was down 31-0, I would watch until the clock said zero. Although I’m still like that with football, now days even when I have money on the line I find it that I’ll change the channel without thinking twice if I feel the game is out of reach.

And if you were watching the game last night, about halfway thru the 4th quarter it looked like the Heat were going to take a 2-0 lead in the series. But instead of flipping over to Family Guy (what I normally watch before I go to bed) I had a funny feeling that I might see one of the greatest comebacks in NBA finals history. Maybe I should become a Jedi Knight as I searched my feelings and found them to be true with the Mavericks coming back from being down 15 points and Dirk Norwitzki hitting the game winner with 3 seconds to go.

I can’t say one way or the other if it was spectacular performance by the Mavs, or a complete collapse from the Heat. I think it was a little bit of both. But either way it brought me one step closer to winning my series bet on Dallas. Although Miami ‘star-power’, and can play some incredibly stifling defense at times, I kind of feel that the Heat’s meltdown may bleed into a losing skid. If the Mavs can just win 2 of 3 at home I think I’m home free. But with Miami completely falling apart, perhaps they start finger pointing and just lose it altogether and get swept out. I know they think and say that they are too mature to act like that, but I still think there’s tension and a lack of respect for Eric Spoelstra. So Dallas, Cleveland, and Lebron haters unite… Let’s go Mavs!
