An Albany Police Officer has died after an off-duty motorcycle crash on Wednesday.

According to The Times Union, 25 year old Albany Police Officer Dean Johnson died after losing control of his motorcycle and veering off into the path of another vehicle on a rural road in the town of Knox (Albany County). He had just joined the department in October of 2017 after graduating from the Albany Academy in May.  Albany Police Chief Robert Sears released a statement Wednesday. James Tedisco, who said that he was "heartbroken" by Johnson's passing , describing him as a "dedicated public servant." " I knew his life-long dream was to be a police officer and I was so proud to see  hem graduate from the Albany police Academy he said.
