Monday, May 9: Rock Birthdays

Happy Birthday today (May 9) to "Party Hard" rocker Andrew W.K. who turns 37. Also celebrating is bassist Tom Petersson of Cheap Trick (66) and Billy Joel (67).

Andrew W.K. was born in Stanford, California and grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He moved to New York City in 1998 to pursue is music career while holding down several jobs including stints as a bubblegum machine salesman, parking attendant, and a waiter. He moved to Forida and started a band in 1999. He eventually got a recording deal in 2000 with Island Records and released his debut album I Get Wet on Nov. 13, 2001. The album went to No. 1 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart with the singles "Party Hard" and "She is Beautiful".
