Make 50K Selling Candy

Some people complain about not being able to find a job, while others set out and create their own job. Do you think you have what it takes to make 50K a year? How about making 50K a year selling candy?

I visited New York City for the first time about 8 years ago. On the train ride a small boy came on board holding a box of candy asking for people to buy it for just one dollar. The boy explained to the passengers it was for his youth basketball team. A few years later on the same train line, another young boy climbed aboard and offered candy for sale again. This time he explained it was not for a basket ball team but to keep him from selling drugs. Now when I ride the train in NYC I still see people selling candy. However, they no longer make up stories about a basketball team, or preventive drug tactics. They are just honest and selling candy to make some cash.

It never occurred to me how many people where selling candy in the city of New York and I never once thought how much they might be making. One man who goes by the name “Tracks” claims he sells enough candy a year that he grosses nearly 50K a year. That’s almost double the average American salary. Some times it makes me wonder why I ever went to school when candy has been present my entire life.
