According to The Daily Gazette, an Albany man has scammed a Schenectady jewelry store out of a diamond worth $25,000.

The man was able to purchase the diamond with a check that turned out to be linked to a closed account. There isn't too much information on the actual diamond or the actual exchange, which only leaves speculation.

This may be the millennial in me, but personally, I'm always surprised to hear when a company is still willing to take a check. In this particular case, I don't know this man's intentions but with all of the scams, bad check schemes and fraud today, I'm shocked that security isn't a little tighter.
