The Altamont Fair in Altamont New York has officially opened and 2012 marks the 119th year of representing Albany, Schenectady and Greene Counties.  Some things never change like the fried dough, the animal shows, the racing pigs but some things are new, including a circus and new thrill rides like 'Speed' and 'Vertigo'.  The fair also brings out some great food, tell us what your favorite is!

One of the new attractions is the Coronas Circus which includes the Royal Friesian Stallions performing their precision steps, the Hollywood Globe Riders-two riders defying gravity, clowns, an aerial act, camels, dogs, and hula hoops. The show will be held under the big top with seats for everyone! Two shows daily – Tuesday – Friday, Three shows on Saturday and Sunday!

Fair gates open at 10am, Exhibits open at 11am, Midway opens at 12 noon.  Exhibits close at 10pm, Midway closes at 11pm. The fair runs August 14th - August 19th. If the weather stays nice, organizers expect more than 70,000 people to visit the fair.

Back by popular demand is the exclusive $15 dollar admission which includes EVERYTHING!  Admission to the fair, all the exhibits and unlimited rides.   New this year are two thrill rides Vertigo and Speed which is a 125 foot rotating arm that gives the experience of free falling at speeds up to 75 mph!   The fair has also announced a fireworks show to close the fair on Sunday night.
