Hunter Shoots Squirrel, Kills Fellow Hunter

When you get all the details together, it's even more tragic.

Mr. Kettavong is dead in Rochester, shot right behind his house. He was out hunting by himself, though he had seen a friend and his grown son with him in the woods. That son would later shoot and kill Mr. Kettavong, thinking he was shooting at a squirrel.

Any sort of accident like this is tragic for all involved, but to hear about Mr. Kettavong's life makes it moreso. He had fled a concentration camp in Laos in 1982 with his wife and six children, and came to America. His children now remember a man who made sacrifices for his family, making sure his children were all put through college.

The accident happened on state-owned land, making the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation involved. The Sheriff's Office is still investigating.
