How to Get Out of Your Boring Office Holiday Party: Free Advice Friday

On this week's Free Advice Friday, we tackle those boring office parties we all are forced to endure, and offer up an... alternative, if you will.

It's the time of year when companies are beginning to start throwing together (or remembering that they need to throw together) one of those oh-so-exciting holiday parties.

Look, sometimes the bosses get it right and put together an evening where all the employees can hang out together without having to do actual work. Hopefully at a fun place with food and refreshments (and by refreshments, I mean they have an open bar.)

More often than not, though, it ends up being a sort of weak-sauce attempt at getting everyone together, usually right before an actual holiday while everyone is trying to get things done so they can leave for vacation. It's probably in the break room with like one (or 5) smelly dips, and just whatever needs to get eaten from the fridge.
