That's right! Three players and one coach all from the Capital Region will participate in this years Super Bowl.

How cool is it that we will have four, that's right four, Capital Region natives playing (and coaching) in the Super Bowl this year!?!?! The only downfall to having multiple people in the Super Bowl is that unless you happen to already be a fan of either team it doesn't really help you pick a team to root for. That's because each team has two men from the Capital Region.

According to the TU New England's running back Dion Lewis is a Native of Albany and their defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is a former RPI player and graduate assistant coach.

While Atlanta's defensive tackle Joe Vellano went to CBA/Clifton Park and their linebacker Josh Keyes attended Chatham. Apparently both players had been on the teams practice squad for most of the season until recently when both were moved to the teams 53 man roster. So there's a good chance they could get some field time in February!

Will you be showing some Capital Region love during the BIG game? I think this year I'm going to have to root for Atlanta. Partially because my team didn't even make it into the playoffs (not to mention they're about to not be a team anymore) but mostly just to root against my brother in law ha!
