I've been saying this my whole life ...

If you are like me and getting out of bed in the morning feels like the absolute worst thing ever in life I am here to tell you, you are not alone!

I am soooooo not a morning person and it's not just because I worked nights for the majority of my adult life but even as a child getting up for school at some ungodly am hour felt next to impossible. I just chalked it up to the fact that I was nocturnal by nature. Well according to the Thrillist it's not just me who feels this way. A sleep expert in the UK that is an honorary clinical research fellow at Oxford University's Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute says

"Making people aged under 55 start work before 9am is akin to 'torture'... it leaves bodies exhausted and stressed. Your liver and your heart have different patterns and you're asking them to shift two or three hours. This is an international issue. Everybody is suffering and they don't have to."

He's even going so far as to call for staggered start times at schools and workplaces seeing as though the study shows that work hours that start before 9 AM only posed a threat to performance until the age of 55, when humans start needing less sleep.

Look I'm all in for later work times! 11AM-7PM sounds like and ideal work schedule to me. Maybe we can get him to convince the world to implement a 3hr siesta in the middle for the day like they do in Barcelona. Come to work a bit later and get to take a nap in the middle of the day ... I could see productivity rising across the globe now ha ha ha ha.

Now I don't see any changes in our work schedules actually coming to fruition anytime in the near future unless were looking to change careers, countries, or shifts but its nice to know that us non-morning folk aren't feel tortured alone. To be honest I think I'm just waking up now.
