Deftones have confirmed that they will release new music in 2019. The news came in an Instagram post from the band, which they captioned, "#2019 #newmusic #deftones #sacramento."

Deftones last album, Gore, came in 2016. It was the band's first LP in roughly four years and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 with 69,000 traditional units.

In August, the band posted two photos on Instagram of guitarist Stephen Carpenter in the studio, sparking rumors that new music was on the horizon. The pictures also sparked intrigue amongst fans due to Carpenter having notoriously felt left out of Gore's writing process. “When we were coming up with ideas and writing the songs, the stuff that was being written, you know, the other guys' ideas, I wasn't too interested in it," he told Ultimate Guitar. "It wasn't the style or the sound I was hoping we would take. It wasn't what I was expecting or wanting,"

With nothing significant on their schedule for the immediate future, it would seem as though the band are going to be spending a good portion of time on whatever it is that they're working on. It remains unclear, however, whether or not they are putting together material for a new album.
