Almost a year ago, the Schoharie County Fairgrounds was under water thanks to Hurricane Irene and Lee.  After close to $200,000 in repairs, the Sunshine Fair opens today thru August 4th.  This year's nine day fair features numerous events of live music, monster trucks, demolition derbies, circus, live stock, midway rides and a huge poultry show.

The fair also have for the first time 'Lawn Mower Races'.  Anyone can enter their modified lawn mower to race for cash and prizes.  See official rules.

Other highlights include on Tuesday with the fair's popular draft horse show.  It's the third largest in the state and begins at 1pm.   The Sunshine Fair will also include and showcase many live musical acts with four bands each night.  See the Sunshine Fair website for actual bands and information.

Sunday and Thursday are the Midway Wristband Days where attendees can ride all the rides for one flat rate.  Discounts are available up to 4pm on both days.  You can also get a $2 discount on Monday who brings two food products, boxed or canned to be donated to the local food pantry.

Adult passes are $12, senior passes are $10, children 12 and under get in free.  Parking is free and gates open everyday 9a-10pm.
