According to CBS 6, during construction on the grounds of the Watervliet Arsenal, one of the oldest in the country, workers found 180 Civil War-era cannonballs.

The discovery of the cannon balls had been going on for a while but normally the cannonballs were brought to a museum on the property. When that museum closed something else had to be done with the cannonballs as some of the them could have still had black powder inside. Because of this the cannonballs were relocated from the arsenal and brought to a quarry in South Glens Falls to be detonated on Wednesday (August 13).
