For the first time since 1972 the Boston Bruins are the Stanley Cup champions.  The championship dreams of the Vancouver Canucks are once again halted.

This has been one of the most exciting playoff's that the NHL has seen in a really long time.  Two of the games best goalies, playing for two teams that seemed to hate each other.  The Bruins would come out victorious with a 4-0 game 7 win in Vancouver.

When it comes down to game 7 in any sport (except for football which is one and done) it is do or die.  You have to have heart, and in my opinion the players for the Canucks seemed to be lacking that.  Boston just seemed to want that win a little bit more.  Until last night, no home team had lost in this years Stanley Cup finals.  The Bruins were the more dominate team in the series as a whole, out scoring Vancouver 23 goals to 11.

The heart and soul of the Boston Bruins is there goalie Tim Thomas.  He was spectacular last night and for the whole series.  He took home the Con Smythe trophy and was named the finals MVP.

Last night Thomas had 37 saves and became just the fourth goalie in NHL history to record a shut out in a finals Game 7.  A great moment for him, especially since he is near the end of his career.

Unfortunately it wasn't all happy times.  The people of Vancouver went a little crazy after the loss.  Crazy riots broke out across the city.  It was absolute madness.  It's a shame that the Canucks fans couldn't be better sports about that.  I hope any Bruins fans out there are safe today.
