If you live in this area of the Electric City then you will be seeing a new bike trail there in the very near future.

This past Tuesday the Schenectady City Council chose Callanan Industries to handle the construction of the new trail with a $1.66 million dollar contract. What you should see done by the middle of next summer is a path that will connect the Upper Union area to Central and Vale Parks as well as Downtown Schenectady. However, that is only a portion of what is being done.

The Daily Gazette is also claiming that a new safe corridor as it is called for students will be created to connect McClellan Street from Kingston to Nott with sidewalks. This will allow students to safely walk to and from school. The money for that portion of the project will be coming from some grants received by the city as part of Safe Routes to School Program.
