BJ’s Movie Pick – Thor

I don't think anyone is surprised that this is my movie pick this week.  I have been looking forward to seeing "Thor" for a while, and it is finally here.

May 6 is here and "Thor" is set to hit theaters.  Million of comic book dorks like myself are heading to the theaters ASAP to watch the thunder god do battle with all kinds of mythical beasts and demons.  To top it off the film seems to be getting rave reviews across the board from fans and critics who had the pleasure of seeing the film early.  I hate the website Rotten Tomatoes but even that jaded place can't deny the "Thor" love, they give the film an 83% rating.

They even expect the film to crush it's competition, which seems to be primarily  "Fast Five".  The fifth part of the "Fast and The Furious" film franchise owned the box office last weekend, but it will be going up against a god this weekend.  I expect "Thor" to finish up at number one over all with "Fast Five" far behind at number two.

If you aren't familiar with the comics, don't worry because Marvel Studios has been doing a really good job of making their movies likable for everyone.  Even my girlfriend thinks "Thor" looks good and is going to come with me.  Of course I'll probably have to go see a chick flick at some point to make good on it, but I'm okay with that.  After all we still have "X-Men First Class", "Captain America", and "Green Lantern" coming out so I will have no short supply of dork movies to make her enjoy.
