It was described as a very chaotic scene Monday evening at Elk and Henry Johnson in Albany as a woman mowed down several people with her SUV after an altercation.

Police got the call around 5:45pm and when they arrived, paramedics were already on the scene helping those injured. Three of the victims were taken to Albany Medical in serious condition.

Reports say the driver got in to confrontation with an unnamed individual, got in her SUV, struck another vehicle, then proceeded to hit four people.

Police spokesmen Steve Smith gave more details:

Four people were struck by a vehicle. Three of them have serious injuries and transported to Albany Medical Center. The injuries don't seem life threatening at this point, but they are being considered serious.

Police believe the woman knew all four victims. Officials did not release any names involved with the incident and are on the look for the woman in question.

Albany Police have arrested and charged Shanikqua Thomas with Second-Degree Assault in connection with Monday evening's incident.

Thomas was originally the passenger in the SUV when she shifted to the driver's set when she turn the vehicle in reverse, hitting six people. The victims range in ages of 16 to 52.

A 48-year-old victim suffered a fractured hip and leg along with a punctured lung. That victim is still under care at Albany Medical Center along with two others.

This isn't Thomas' first run in with the law with charges stemming from breaking windows and stealing several hundred dollars worth of hair care products.
