Capital Region residents will be happy to know that the area has fallen off a list of top bed bug cities.

According to Times Union, Pest Control company Orkin has released their yearly list of the Top 50 'Bed Bug Cities', and the Albany-Schenchtady-Troy has fallen off the list. The area ranked in the Top 25 back in 2010 and would make several appearances on the list dropping to No. 44 in 2011, No. 42 in 2012, No. 43 in 2013, No. 43 in 2014, and No. 28 in 2015. Also falling off the Top 50 list was Syracuse after years of high numbers of bed bug infestations reported. The only New York  'Bed Bug Cities' currently on the list are NYC which ranked 9th and Buffalo 29th ( a drop from 2015 where it ranked 13th.)

Although great news, Capital Region residents are still urged to exercise caution with bed bugs. EPA guidelines for identifying and preventing bed bug outbreaks can be found here.
