Albany Area Professors Fed Up With Cellphones In The Class Room

The Times Union recently did a story on Albany area professors dealing with cell phone use in the classrooms. This strikes me as a not so clean cut debate over the pros and cons of cell phone use in the classroom.

On one side, today's cell phones are so much more then just a cell phone. Smartphones are almost as common as the shoes on your feet. We use our cellphone to check e-mails, for directions, our social media, and to look up important facts. Cell phones are not only a social norm but also potentially a strong tool for higher learning.

On the other side, students abuse the privilege of cell phone use. This can lead to distractions in the class room. Not only to you but your fellow classmates and your professor. Turning a prime environment for learning in the trading floor of the stock exchange.
