What constitutes a TEN on ol' Monte's lady-o-meter?  How about a stunning girl that is gorgeous by day and kicks some serious ass by night, a la Buffy The Vampire Slayer?  Luckily for me, the Washington Ave Armory will be chock full of such beauties this Saturday night when the Albany All Stars Roller Derby girls are in action!

The Albany All Stars Roller Derby girls open up their doors at the Washington Ave Armory (195 Washington Ave) at 6:00 PM this Saturday, 10/29,  with the first whistle blowing at 7:00 PM .  In action, you can see the B-Squad battle the Watertown Black River Rollers!  This week's bout is Halloween themed, so rocking a costume is encouraged!  There will be some prizes awarded for costumes - wonder if I can win "most original" going as a bald radio DJ?!

If you haven't made it out to see the girls yet at the Armory, you're missing out some great local and unique sporting events.  The AASRD is the first flat track, all women roller derby league here in the area. In their fifth season, the 'stars now have over 60 active skaters amongst three teams: The Empire Skate Troopers, The Department of Public Hurts and the Capital City Legislayers.

The girls, Sin & Tonic, Liv Dangerously, and Sweet Dee Bacle, just to name a few, don't just go all out on the the track either. These lovely ladies also do it big in the community.  The AASRD participate in many local events and fundraisers as well as donating a portion of each bout's proceeds to charity.  In fact, a portion of the proceeds from this Saturday's bout will go towards the fight against breast cancer.

Interested in checking out some hard hitting women ready to inflict a little pain on their opponents?!?  Clear your schedule around 6:00 Saturday, pick out a costume and grab some tickets ! The tickets can be yours for only 10 bucks in advance or 12 smackers at the door for adults and only four dollars for kids under 12.

Not only was I hooked up with some great action shots for you by Rob Gierthy, but Sin & Tonic herself provided us with some awesome videos to see what you'll have in store for Saturday!  Personally, I LOVE the helmet cam - check out the first person view in that second video!

Who's coming with ol' Monte on Saturday to cheer on the B-Squad!?
