A nearly 6 hour standoff on Monday in Schenectady ended peacefully.

According to The Daily Gazette, police were called to the home of a distraught man at around 3:16 pm Monday at a home on Plymouth Avenue. The man had been reportedly making threats to people including a family member. The man was held up in his apartment by himself and was talked through the nearly 6 hour ordeal by a negotiator, who kept a line of communication going with the individual. Family members were said to be upstairs in the home at the time and dome family members were involved in the negotiations to help the man surrender. No injuries were reported. Police Chief Eric Clifford said the man was sent to an area hospital to be treated for a condition that was not revealed.  A police spokesman said that multiple guns were found in the home.

Let's hope the man gets whatever help he needs and be thankful that nobody was hurt.
