Celtic rockers the Dropkick Murphys put on the 1st rock show at the new Albany Capital Center here a couple of tips we think you should be aware of for the next show at the Capital Regions new venue...

The first big SOLD OUT show at the new Albany Capital Center went down last night featuring the Dropkick Murphys, Agnostic Front, and Bim Skala Bim. First let me start by saying the show was AMAZING! If you missed it you definitely missed out but seeing as though it was the first big rock show at a brand new venue there were a couple things we discovered during our visit that we think you should be prepared for at the next show...

1.) Although there are a few parking garages in walking distance of the Albany Cap Center depending on what else is going on downtown ride sharing services like Lyft and Uber can come in real handy.

2.) Like at most any other show you go to be prepared to empty your pockets as you go through security they will check your pockets and wand you down.

3.) Cash is king, although a lot of the drink spots take cash or credit the credit machines are limited and make the drink line time consuming. FYI liquor drinks are only available downstairs so be prepared to wait in line for an extended period of time.

4.) People tend to make it upstairs to the show room and then just post up. Creating a wall that makes it seem like there is no room to go. However, if you can push past that initial wall of people you will find there are plenty of open spaces and additional beer stands.

5.) When the bands are playing it gets pretty dark in there. So pay attention to where you are walking because there are definitely a few speed bumps throughout the venue that are in place to cover up cords and such but they are hard to see and easy to trip on so be aware.

The best part about this new venue is that it holds a decent amount of people and you get a pretty decent view no matter where you are.

Also, I should note that I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of wait time and lines for the restroom, specifically the ladies room which almost never happens however, there were some pretty significant lines for the men's room. Initially I thought that it was just because there wasn't a lot of women at this show but upon further analysis I discovered that the men's room urinal to stall ratio is not exactly conducive to multiple men needing to pee at the same time (and by analysis I mean that's what I was told).

Hope this helps get you more show time in at the next show at the new Cap Center I know I for one can't wait for the next one!
