The stores are stocked and ready to go. Trick or Treaters will be soon be ringing doorbells and you'll need to purchase some Halloween candy soon.  You don't want to be that house that the kids avoid or do you?  What kind and how much should you buy? What is this years most popular Halloween Candy?

Walk down any Halloween candy aisle at the store and you'll see all the familiar candies, such as Snickers,  Nestle Crunch, Kit Kat, and Hershey kisses.   The price is approximately $2.99 a bag - highway robbery as you swear the bags are getting smaller and one bag wont get you very far especially if you live in a suburban neighborhood, so make your selection count.

According to a list of 2010's most popular Halloween candy on squidoo.com these are the candies you cant go wrong with, although I did make some revisions from my own experience.

1- Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

No surprise here.  From Hershey, The orange, black and yellow wrapper with a peanut butter & chocolate combination

2- Snicker's

The candy that really satisfies.  Milk Chocolate, caramel and peanuts from M&M Mars.
The name came from their favorite horse called Snickers but in the UK and Irelend was sold udner the name Marathon.

3- M&M's

Melts in your mouth and not in your hands.   The candy that is milk chocolate or milk chocolate and a nut.  Come in yellow, red, green, blue, brown and other varieties of colors.

4- Pop Rocks

I guess kids really like this candy.  These candies provide action for your mouth as they pop and explode.   Remember the rumor, if drink soda with pop rocks in your mouth your stomach would explode?  These controversial candies have been taken off and put back on the market for years.  They are back now and the 4th popular, although I would have placed Kit Kat above Pop Rocks.

5- Kit Kat

by far these are the candies that my two daughters bring home after a night of trick or treating.
Give me a break, Give me a break, break me off a piece of that Kit Kat bar.

6- Sour Patch Kids

These sour and gummy candies started in 1986 and make your mouth water with the tarty flavor.

7- Willy Wonka Candies

These candies include sweet tarts, nerds, and laffy taffy.

8- Hershey Kisses

Can't go wrong here as everyone loves kisses, you'll just need to buy many many bags as nobody will take just one kiss.

9- Nestle Crunch

The combination of Milk Chocolate and crisped rice.

10- Three Musketeers

The light and fluffy candy bar from M&M Mars.  The combination of chocolate and nougat.  The candy use to be sold in three varieties chocolate, strawberry and vanilla - that's how the name came about and then just settled on chocolate which you get today.

If you select any of the above ten selections you should be good.  Honorable mentions include Butterfinger, Tootsie Rolls, Baby Ruth, Almond Joy, Mounds and Milky Way.   Don't forget candy corn, that is a Halloween stable.

With approximately 40 million Trick or Treaters in American, only go to homes you trust and know.  Either way check all candy before your child consumes it.  There are idiots out there and every year some nut case will put a sharp object in a candy.   Remember to take a flash light and wear reflective clothing.  Have a safe and Happy Halloween,  good luck candy shopping.
