For a while now, we have been using our video game consoles for so many things other then video games. You can order and watch movies, use the console as a personal trainer, even surf the web. And now it looks like you can use your Xbox hardware for virtual therapy. The program SimSensei uses the Xbox kinect to read body language. Along with a questionnaire SimSensei can diagnose common mental issues. We can already see the argument with this kind of technology. One side is that no machine can replace a human therapist, and the other side is this could be use as a early warning for people like the Connecticut shooter or military personal with Post Traumatic Syndrome. SimSensei is only in development stages, so it too early to see the full potential. For now its just one more use for your video game hardware.
