Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, I guess.

Remember that story from earlier this month where a New York woman got busted for driving around with homemade cardboard license plate? (I've posted my original blog below for review or in case you didn't catch it the first time around.)

Well, the woman who was subsequently arrested for driving with a cardboard license plate now wants her chance to tell her side of the story. I'll be honest and say that I may have had some theories on what her motives could have been, and they weren't too sympathetic to what she says is the reality of the situation.

The woman spoke with the Buffalo News in an attempt to set the record straight saying that  “My intentions were good. I want people to understand. I didn’t do it for kicks. I didn’t have the money. I was really trying, really struggling.”

The woman, a single mother of two, said that her whole ordeal started when her insurance lapsed and she lost the plates to her car. Then when she tried to re register her car she discovered that she had a $120 parking ticket that was holding her registration up. With two kids to feed and house she felt the only way to keep her family afloat and pay off the ticket was to continue to use the vehicle to get to her job so she could earn a paycheck.

Ultimately her decision has left her worse off then she was to begin with having lost her job, she still had to post bail, and she was charged with a slew of infractions. She says she knows that what she did is wrong and is now aware of the dangers of driving without registration and insurance. After the incident went viral and she was essentially tried on social media she wanted people to understand why she did what she did and she's hoping the courts will be more understanding.

Like I said before, you gotta do what you gotta do, I guess. But maybe next time, take the bus.

***insert ha ha/wow facebook reaction here***

I'm dying right now! Like literally laughing out loud to myself! I'm really curious as to what frame of mind this broad was in to think this would actually work? Actually I can probably think of a few...

Apparently a 28-year-old woman from Springville, NY was pulled over yesterday for driving with a handmade license plate. I can just imagine her waking up being like, "Man I really have some errands I need to run today but my car doesn't have any plates. Oh, it's okay I can just make some out of this box and some paint."

Now I'm sure that's not exactly how this whole thing started but things ended when the woman was pulled over and it was discovered **shocker** that her license plate was made from cardboard and painted in an attempt to make it look legit. Let's be honest here, she really couldn't have thought this was going to work could she? I mean look at this thing!

In case you are wondering, homemade cardboard license plates are NOT legal.
