Willy Wonka’s Snozzberries Were Really A Dirty Euphemism?
Once again, a part of your childhood is ruined. As it turns out, Willy Wonka author Roald Dahl may have been a bit of a sicko. He had kids licking wallpaper that tasted like what?
1971's 'Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory' was already one of the creepiest kid movies of all time. It just got a whole lot creepier. Remember that famous scene with the lickable wallpaper? Yeah, the whole 'strawberries taste like strawberries, the snozzberries taste like snozzberries' scene, but what the heck is a snozzberry?
For the longest time, we just thought it was just more nonsense from a film filled with nonsense. Not the case. Snozzberries has a different meaning. A bad meaning. A meaning that should never involve children. Author Roald Dahl put a slang term for the male reproductive organ in his childrens book. Terrible, but the joke is on us. We've all been saying it for years. Perhaps they should rename the book, 'Charlie and the Sex Shop'?
