Happy Birthday today (Sept. 7) to Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. She's 65. Other rockers celebrating include ex Y&T drummer Leonard Haze (58) and former Bang Tango guitarist Kyle Stevens (48).

Chrissy Hynde formed The Pretenders in England in March of 1978 with the original lineup featuring Hynde on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, James Honeyman-Scott on lead vocals and keyboards, Pete Farndon on bass, and Martin Chambers on drums. After the passing of Honeyman-Scott and Farndon due to drug related reasons, the band would experience numerous personnel changes with Hynde being the only consistent member, and Chambers eventually returning after being absent from the band for several years. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. Chrissie Hynde released her first solo album ‘Stockholm’ in 2014.

The Pretenders will hit the road with Stevie Nicks this fall for a U.S. Tour.
