Happy Birthday today (July 18) to Jack Irons. The original drummer for Red Hot Chili Peppers is 56. Also celebrating today is System of a Down of guitarist Daron Malakian (43).

Jack Irons is best known as the founding drummer for Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band formed out of Los Angeles in 1983 with Irons on drums, Hellel Slovak on guitar, Anthony Kiedis on vocals and Flea on bass. Alongside his work with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack Irons also played drums with Pearl Jam, appearing on a couple tracks off the 1994 album Vitalogy and two full studio albums (1996’s No Code and 1998’s Yield). 

Irons was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Cheers to Jack Irons on his birthday today! For more on Jack Irons, check out his official website.
