This week the Albany Police Depatment announced that they would be reducing the speed limit on a section of Washington Avenue around the University of Albany. Specifically the stretch from Jermain St. to the I-90 exit 2 ramp. The speed limit has been reduced from 45 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour which according to the Times Union is in "an effort to increase traffic safety". All Over Albany is reporting that:

The Albany Police Department will also have units on patrol in this corridor for the purposes of traffic safety education and enforcement

Which is no joke. Now I'm not sure if it is just because of the change in the speed limit around the area or if there is another reason behind it but on may way to work this morning in just the last stretch of my drive from 90 into the Pine Bush I saw 4, no lie, 4 cars pulled over. So just a word of warning, watch your speed and drive safely!
