The Moody Blues have released an extended trailer for Days of Future Passed Live, which arrives on DVD, Blu-ray and CD on March 23. It follows a previous, shorter trailer, which announced the planned release.

You can watch the new clip below.

Featuring a complete performance of their groundbreaking 1967 album Days of Future Passed, the film was shot at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto last year. It features the band starting its set with a selection of classic tracks before being joined by a full orchestra for the entire 1967 LP. The spoken-word parts of “Morning Glory” and “Late Lament” were delivered by actor Jeremy Irons.

“I was always convinced we could do it, despite what the people around us were saying,” frontman Justin Hayward told ProMusic last year. “I had the good fortune of meeting a young man named Elliott Davis. Elliott was Burt Bacharach’s musical director whenever he came to Europe, and Elliott and I worked on a special for Burt and became friends. I quickly realized this was going to be the key, because the original parts that Peter Knight arranged for Days of Future Passed weren’t kept because no one thought the album would be a success. But Elliot, me and my engineer worked on a sound map of the whole album. I realized how brilliant the orchestral links were, and that’s when it dawned on us that this could actually work.”

Hayward said he's not sure if he would call the album "prog rock," a common designation given by fans. "For me, it was always a romantic record with beautifully crafted songs with Peter Knight’s links, who was the greatest of all romantic string arrangers," he pointed out. "I think if it’d been a prog rock album, it wouldn’t have stood the test of time. I was very proud to be a part of it.”

The Moody Blues will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April.
