'The Wall That Heals' is on tour throughout the United States for 2016 and the Capital Region will be the only stop in New York State on this years tour. The wall made it's way through Schenectady yesterday afternoon and has been erected by around 30 volunteers today in the small town of Princetown.

On Veterans Day 1996, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) unveiled a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., designed to travel to communities throughout the United States. Since its dedication, The Wall That Heals has visited more than 400 cities and towns throughout the nation, spreading the Memorial's healing legacy to millions.

The wall contains over 58,000 names of missing or lost soldiers and although the opening ceremonies are not until tomorrow (Thursday, August 25th) at 10am people have already begun to head to Princetown to check it out.

'The Wall That Heals' is now open 24 hours a day through Sunday afternoon and gives people in our area the opportunity to "reflect, remember and heal" that might not be able to make the trek out to Washington D.C. to do so.

The real cool part about the tour is that the trailer that wall travels in also doubles as a mobile education center filled with:

Photos of service members whose names are found on The Wall, along with letters and memorabilia left at The Wall in D.C. The Museum also includes a map of Vietnam and a chronological overview of the conflict in Vietnam.
