UAblany was handed one of the eight dreaded first round slots in the NCAA Tourney but the team made the most of it Tuesday night. The Danes walked away with their first ever tournament victory after four appearances.

The Great Danes traveled to Dayton, OH to battle fellow 16-seed Mount St. Mary's College in what would be a back and forth game. The Danes coming out with a 21-2 lead only to see St. Mary's return the favor with 18 unanswered points.

The two team styles definitely classed with UAblany's 'deliberate and physical down low game' versus St. Mary's 'up-tempo game.' In the end, DJ Evans and Peter Hooley combined for 42 of UAblany's 71 points in the win (71-64).

UAlbany now moves on to challenge the Florida Gators, who are on a 25 game winning streak with only 2 loses all season. The Danes are going in to this game with a "shock the world" mindset. Will that payoff? Game time is 4:10 PM Thursday, March 20.
