Twitters Top Trends For 2010

The top trends from the year in news, people, movies, television and more.

It seems like everyone is on twitter now and they tweet about everything possible.  The social media network as compiled their top trends of 2010 in several categories.

No surprise that the top trend overall was the gulf oil spill.  Whether you were tweeting your frustration or your concern it was the hottest topic among people and especially celebs. In category of people Justin Bieber was the hottest topic of choice.

The world cup was one of the largest trends just proving of soccer's ever growing popularity.  I am a little disturbed that the stupid horn's (Vuvuzelas) were the 5th hottest topic on twitter this year, but with the annoying sound that came out of them I am willing to bet most of the posts were about that exact thing.

Inception was one of the years biggest movies so no surprise that was the big one everyone was tweeting about.  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows also made the top 10 overall trends. You can check out the complete list here.
