Today (Sept. 5) we remember the great Freddie Mercury of Queen on what would have been his 71st birthday. Other rocker birthdays today include Journey singer Arnel Pineda (50), Giuffria singer David Glen Eisley (65), guitarist Dweezil Zappa (48), and drummer Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine, Prophets of Rage) is 49.

Queen’s Freddie was born on this day (Sept. 5, 1946). Freddie was one of a kind, and one of the greatest frontmen in rock n roll history. Sadly we lost Freddie on November 24, 1991. Official cause of death was bronchial pneumonia resulting from AIDS.

Queen are one of the best-selling music artist’s of all time, with record sale estimates between 150 and 300 million worldwide. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
