Matt Cameron first gained fame out of Seattle when joining Soundgarden in 1986. He would remain with the band until their break-up in 1997. He was invited to join Pearl Jam on their U.S. Yield Tour in 1998 and soon became a permanent member of the band. He has been with Pearl Jam ever since. He joined Soundgarden when they reunited for a tour and new album King Animal in 2012. Additionally, Cameron was a member of supergroup Temple of the Dog with fellow Soundgarden and Pearl Jam bandmates. The band reunited and toured in 2016 in celebration of the 25th anniversary of their self-titled album.

Fun fact: Matt Cameron was born in San Diego, California and started playing drums at an early age. At the age of 14, he and some friends played in a Kiss cover band called “Kiss” (with the word imitation written under the name in small print). The band was threatened with legal action from Kiss management and the band dissolved. Cheers to Matt Cameron on his birthday today!
