Happy Birthday today (Aug. 30) to Micky Moody. The original guitarist for Whitesnake is 66.

Whitesnake formed out of England in 1978 with singer David Coverdale, guitarists Micky Moody and Bernie Marsden, bassist Neil Murray, keyboardist Jon Lord, and drummer Ian Paice.  The band had a string of top 10 albums in the UK with Ready and Willing in 1980, followed by 1981's Come an' Get It, 1982's Saint's & Sinners, and 1984's Slide It In. Slide It In would also become the band's first album to chart in the U.S. selling 2 million copies and featuring the song "Slow an' Easy" (a song co-written by Moody).

After his departure from Whitesnake, Micky Moody eventually formed a band called Company of Snakes in 1998 with former Whitesnake bandmates Bernie Marsden and Neil Murray. The band would perform mostly early Whitesnake songs.  For more on Micky Moody, check out his official website here.
