April 16th is a "holiday" celebrating the record store - a day to support your local, independent record store. We're fortunate enough to have several of those in our area, most notably Last Vestige. The day also has become a day to celebrate music that is on vinyl. I have a bunch of random vintage vinyl but also have some newer albums too. Did you know you can get many of the current rock albums on vinyl - plus some reissues of fairly recent (back to the 90s) stuff? Here are the best selling rock albums on amazon.com . I've taken the liberty to exclude some folks like Adele who we don't play on Q103.

Queens of the Stone Age (Remastered)

This is a self titled album and chances are you don't know a damn track on it. I'm a HUGE fan of the band and I'd opt for Era Vulgaris or Songs For the Deaf on vinyl before this one but apparently I'm not in line with the rest of the vinyl purchasing public.

Radiohead - The King Of Limbs

Radiohead isn't a huge staple on Q103 but we respect them greatly and the music of this band never sounds better than on vinyl. The King of Limbs just came out and the fact that Radiohead actively promoted releasing it on vinyl makes them even cooler.

Beastie Boys - Hot Sauce Committee Part 2

We debuted the first single on the air and online about two weeks ago (see link below) and you responded positively. This new album sounds like the best years of the Beasties and clearly fans agree - the vinyl version of this album is one of the most sold and isn't being released until May 3rd!

Pearl Jam - Vitalogy & Vs.

There are two Pearl Jam albums in the top five rock albums - and so we're cheating a little bit by putting both into one ranking. Both of these albums are obviously not new but clearly stand the test of time. The fact that these two albums weren't Pearl Jam's most popular mainstream albums shows that the vinyl lovers are also dedicated music fans. Random fact: The longest title in the PJ catalog appears on "Vs" - Elderly Woman Behind The Counter in a Small Town.

    Foo Fighters - Wasting Light

Without a doubt this is one of the most anticipated Foo Fighter albums in years - actually as you can see it's number one! This album was recorded in Dave Grohl's garage. I have their "In Your Honor" album on vinyl and it's amazing. I likely will purchase this one on vinyl too.
