2015 has been a year of a lot of well established bands either coming back together or making new albums. Here is a short list of 5 bands that hopefully we may be able to see in 2016.

I decided to get a gauge on this over this past weekend by asking the great listeners of Q103 who they would like to see. I looked over the comments left and grabbed the most probable bands out of the bunch. Here is what I came up with.

  • TOOL

Over the past year everyone has been talking about Tool. The news of a new album being made has only made the bands fans (which are many) clamor for them even more. Last month we were lucky enough to get Maynard James Keenan here with his other group Puscifer. We have also had A Perfect Circle many times in the past as well. Maybe Maynard will remember this when their album comes out? That's certainly something we can look forward to in 2016 or 2017 at the latest hopefully. What does need to happen is a trip either to SPAC or the TU. Here's to hoping!! Currently the band has a south eastern tour planned with Primus set to open for them. Here is their current tour schedule.

January 9 – San Diego, CA @ Viejas Arena
January 13 – San Antonio, TX @ AT&T Center
January 16 – Tulsa, OK @ BOK Center
January 17 – Grand Prairie, TX @ Verizon Theatre
January 19 – Southaven, MS @ Landers Center
January 23 – Nashville, TN @ Bridgestone Arena
January 25 – Atlanta, GA @ Infinite Energy Center
January 26 – Charlotte, NC @ Bojangles Coliseum

As far as the album goes, let them take their time. When it comes to Tool good things come to those who wait. Below is a little taste what it may be like.

  • FOO FIGHTERS

Not a very unreasonable option, actually is quite feasible. This past year they did quite a bit of touring for Sonic Highways. Even when Dave Grohl broke his leg in Gothenburg, Sweden he continued to be the rock god that he is and play shows. Not only did he continue his tour but also did so from a pretty sweet throne. A cool few years for the Foo Fighters but the one thing they have yet to do is play in Albany. It is certainly possible. Grohl also seems to be pretty adamant to please all of his fans no matter what city they are in. Hell, Italy did a 1,000 person rendition of O"Learn to Fly" and the band came to play for them. I say maybe we do something similar. Currently they are not touring but stopped while overseas due to the Paris bombings. Maybe when they pick back up (assuming they will) a tour in the U.S. will be on it with Albany as a pitstop. If you haven't seen the Foo Fighters live here is what it is like.

  • RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS

Yet another band that it feels like forever since we have seen last. A third band I personally have never seen. The single ray of hope we have to see the 90's and 2000's Icons of rock is with Rock on the Range. Recently they have been named the headliner to this and we just so happen to be sending someone to go see it, find out how here. Sadly we haven't seen an original album by the band since "I'm With You" in 2011. What this means is we are fairly overdue for a new album. Now that isn't a promise or anything, but maybe we see one in 2016. Currently they have nothing except festivals and overseas shows planned. If they ever do announce one here I would be sure they would fill any venue that we have. If you've never seen them, here you go.

  • METALLICA

Bring it on!! In recent years we've gotten everything from Metallica except a show in the 518. We have had the movie "Through the Never" which was an amazing way to watch them perform live but I say not enough. We've gotten report and report of a new album which lets face it, do they really have to? I personally loved "Death Magnetic" but it has been 7 years. No official date has been released for the album but what to expect is sometime in 2016 or 2017. I'd assume with a new album we would certainly have to get a tour. The question becomes will Albany get a Metallica show? I say yes damnit. We had gotten one for their last album which I may add sold out rapidly at the Times Union Center. For right now however we will just have to settle for a new album coming up and the hope of a show. Below is a recent live video by the metal lords..

  • DISTURBED

Last on my list but most certainly not least. Disturbed has had one hell of a 2015. Their return album "Immortalized" shot up to number one almost instantly. The songs "The Vengeful One" and "The Light" both have earned the spot of number on on the Hard Rock charts. But what has yet to happen is the announcement of a substantial tour. Sure they have announced a few things here and there, one of which our Q103 Rock Girl Krystal will be going to. Their current dates consist of mostly oversea shows with the sprinkling of a few U.S. ones. As americans and Albanians we need more!! We need to get our faces rocked off by Disturbed sometime in the coming year. Here is the band performing "The Vengeful One" at the album release party in Chicago in August. Hopefully we get this replicated locally.

We need to see all five of these bands in 2016. Will it happen? Who knows. But there are so many more bands that were left out of this. Bands like Iron Maiden, Linkin Park and Pearl Jam. Simply because there isn't much to speak of on their fronts. What does 2016 have in store for us? Only time will tell.
