The next couple of days around the Capital Region are forecast to be HOT.  Temperatures in the 90's with humid conditions.  Here are some tips to stay cool from what to wear to what to do.

Keeping cool isn't just about being comfortable but also to stay away from heat related illnesses like heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

If you exercise or do outside activity- change or alter your habits to when it will be cooler such as early morning or at dusk after the sun sets.

Wear loose fitted clothing and of light color. Cotton is cooler than synthetics.

Use a fan to move air around the house.  Air moving at 1 mph will feel 2 03 degrees cooler than it is.

Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.  Stay away from alcohol or caffeine as they promote dehydration.

Take frequent showers or bath with cool water.

Instead of hot foods - try lighter fare foods like fruit salads or yogurt.

Use common sense.  If its too hot outdoors stay inside with the air conditioner. Pay attention to infants, the elderly and don't forget about your pets.  They will need help to stay cool!

If you don't have air conditioning, spend part of your day at a shopping mall ,  movie theater or any public place that has central air conditioning.  Of course you can always call your neighbor and ask them if you can take a dip in their pool!

Be aware when you leave your car in the hot sun,  the leather seating, steering wheel and dashboard can become very hot.  Use a windshield sun shade or crack your window to help keep your car cool.
