The Metal Box is a weekly web series posted each Friday where we discuss all things hard rock and heavy metal: news, videos, interviews, live concerts and more.

This week, we talk about the inaugural Laconiafest rock festival coming to Laconia, New Hampshire. Aerosmith's Steven Tyler has been announced as the headliner for the event which will be part of Bike Week. Aerosmith formed out of Boston, Massachusetts in 1970. Guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton played in a band called the Jam Band. They met singer Steven Tyler, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarist Ray Tabano and formed Aersomith. Brad Whitford would replace Tabano in 1971.

Aerosmith have sold over 100 million records worldwide making them the biggest selling American hard rock band of all time. Steven Tyler helped the band have successful hard rock albums like Toys in the Attic and Rocks, and hits like "Dream On", "Sweet Emotion", and "Walk This Way". The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
