The Metal Box is a weekly web series posted each Friday where we discuss all things hard rock and heavy metal: news, videos, interviews, live concerts and more.

This week we have an exclusive interview with original Whitesnake guitarist Bernie Marsden. We talked about a bunch of topics including the early days of Whitesnake. Bernie Marsden has a one-off New York area show coming up with Woodstock, NY area rocker Kristen Capolino scheduled for Darryl's House in Pawling, NY March 22. Check out video above for full interview.

Whitesnake formed out of England in 1978. The original Whitesnake lineup would feature David Coverdale on vocals, guitarists Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody, bassist Neil Murray, keyboardist Jon Lord, and drummer Ian Paice.  The band had a string of top 10 albums in the UK with Ready and Willing in 1980, followed by 1981’s Come an’ Get It, 1982’s Saint’s & Sinners, and 1984’s Slide It InSlide It In would also become the band’s first album to chart in the U.S. selling 2 million copies and featuring the song “Slow an’ Easy”. The band would go through several lineup changes and have their biggest success with hit singles “Here I Go Again” and “Is This Love” off their 1987 album Whitesnake.
