The Metal Box is a weekly web series posted each Friday where we discuss all things hard rock and heavy metal: news, videos, interviews, live concerts and more.

This week, we talk about AC/DC topping Billboard's 2016 hot tours list.  AC/DC was formed out of Sydney, Australia in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. The band's classic album Highway to Hell was released in July of 1979 on Atlantic Records. It was the last album to feature singer Bon Scott who died the following year on Feb. 19 1980 and it became the first AC/DC album to break the U.S. Top 100, eventually reaching No. 17 on the charts. It propelled the band into super stardom and is the second highest selling AC/DC album next to Back in Black going 7 times platinum. AC/DC has had an incredible run with singer Brian Johnson fronting the band.

AC/DC have sold over 200 million albums worldwide in their 40 plus year career and are one of the best-selling bands in the of all time.
