Happy Birthday today (Oct. 6) to Tommy Stinson. The bassist for The Replacements (ex Guns N' Roses) is 50. Other rockers celebrating include singer Thom Yorke of Radiohead (48), singer Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon (65), and guitarist Robert Sarzo of Hurricane (58).

Tommy Stinson gained notoriety as bassist for American punk band The Replacements in the 1980's. The band consisted of Stinson on bass, guitarist Bob Stinson, guitarist/vocalist Paul Westerberg, and drummer Chris Mars. The group disbanded in 1991 and reunited for some time in 2012. The band's music was influenced by artists like the Rolling Stones, Faces, Slade, Lou Reed, and the Beatles along with punk rock bands including the Ramones, New York Dolls, The Dead Boys, and the Clash. In addition to a solo career, Tommy Stinson has also played with Soul Asylum, and he was a member of Guns N' Roses from 1998 until 2016. He appeared on the 2008 album Chinese Democracy along with the live 2014 DVD release Appetite for Democracy 3D.
