Def Leppard and Heart were supposed to play the Saratoga Performing Arts Center last night.  Late Friday afternoon the band set out a press release postponing the show until August 2nd.  The band also cancelled numerous other dates on the tour and now we know why.  Def Leppard's lead singer Joe Elliott father passed away.  The band wanted to postpone the entire U.S. tour when Joe father had a heart attack in April, but the man who funded Def Leppard's first recording session told the band to get back to work.

Joe Elliott's father known to the everyone as Joe Senior was close to the end when the band performed in Milwaukee on Tuesday night.   Def Leppard went on stage that night to honor Joe's father.

Joe was close to breaking down after the band performed Love Bites - his father's favorite song.  After the show Joe flew back to the UK and was along side his father with his mother when he passed.

Tickets for the July 10th SPAC show will be honor on August 2nd.
