The Elf On The Shelf: Making Christmas Creepy

I am all for kids behaving, but telling him that there is a creepy smiling elf watching their every move is a little much.  Plus the little guy makes me cringe.

Those of you who aren't familiar with this very creepy "tradition", basically it's a way to keep your kids in line during the Christmas season.  Now this is something I am all for.  Being a former jerk kid I know that behaving during the holidays is very important.  The Elf on the Shelf is just a little too much for me though.

Basically you stick this mini Christmas Chucky in your kids room and tell them that they are keeping track of you for Santa. Maybe if they didn't make him look like such a creeper it wouldn't be so bad, but seriously this thing is the making of a scary movie.  Imagine what you would do to a kid if you say moved the elf to a new spot everyday?  It give me goosebumps just thinking about it.  If it were me, I wouldn't be able to sleep with that thing in my room.

I personally don't know anyone who uses this, but I know that my Grandmother had one when I was a kid.  At the time, I had no idea what this thing was, but knowing now it totally creeps me out.  Lets end this awful tradition before anymore kids get scared to death.
